I have gone through an entire skein of red yarn to make the first strip and it isn't even completed yet! Looked all over the house for another ball but cannot seem to find any anywhere. I have ordered some to be delivered to my local store and it should be there by Friday so for now I am on a little hiatus. Will update as soon as possible.
Happy New Year!

Donations
I am still progressing on my Union Jack blanket, I will get some photos on here tomorrow. I always hate asking for money but if I am going to keep this project going, then I will need to ask people to dig deep for donations. At the top of my blog I have added a link in which you can send funds directly to my Paypal if you wish to donate. In the last three days I have accumulated 48 page views so I do not expect very many donations but it would mean the world to me if you could give as much as you can. This is a non profit enterprise, I am not receiving any money for the blankets and all of the funds for the equipment are currently coming out of my pocket.
Thank You.

Progressing...
No photos today as I am still working on the middle strip but I thought I would share the plan I am working on for the blanket. The idea is to do each strip alphabetically and then stitch them together with a tapestry needle. The blue is labelled BG for background, I am going to stitch all of the strips together and then fill in the blue after. Fingers crossed the first strip will be finished tomorrow and I can get to work on the middle strip.

Let's Get Started!
Alright as I previously mentioned before the first flag that I will be starting with is the flag of my country, the glorious Union Jack, My plan for this one is to do it piece by piece making the different colours and then sewing together once it is all made, I mocked up a few measurements in Photoshop to work by to make a decently sized blanket without making it too much of a challenge.
I have started by making the red cross for England in the middle by making a 60 inch long strip of double crocheted red yarn which will be 6 inches in height. then I will attach the bottom and top of the cross straight in the middle of the long strip I have made. The strips will be 12 inches long each and 6 inches wide, creating the first strip has proven to be quite an overbearing task . I will post photos later.

New beginnings
Hi there, you probably stumbled on this blog by perchance, my name is Mikey, I am a student who also cares for my parents. You might be a fan of Crocheting and that is why you most likely found this blog. I am an avid fan of crocheting, which is very peculiar for me, an 18 year old male, most of my friends are into video games and sex. I am straight but I got into crocheting because it relieved stresses and it was quite amazing what kinds of things I could make with my new found ability. I like to keep my hobby kind of a secret to people I have only just met but my friends are very supportive of my craft. (in fact they constantly ask if I could make them a blanket or a hat) I have done barely anything with this talent of mine, so today I decided that I would get my fingers going and in my free time do something I could be proud of. A keen vexillologist friend of mine suggested that I make a blanket with my respected country's flag emblazoned on it, the Union Jack. But as I started on this project I thought, why stop there? My ambition for the next year or two is to spend my free time crocheting the flags of the world and I will be documenting my progress entirely on this blog, it may look a little unpolished right now, but as the years go by I will make it my duty to get this done. Below I have posted the flags I will be doing, stating with Great Britain in the bottom left and then working my way up.
